چکیده

This special issue of the Journal of Scheduling contains ten papers presented at the Twelfth Workshop on Models and Algorithms for Planning and Scheduling Problems (MAPSP 2015), held from June 8 to June 12, 2015, in La Roche-enArdenne, Belgium. MAPSP is a biennial workshop dedicated to all theoretical and practical aspects of scheduling, planning, and timetabling. Previous MAPSP meetings have been held in Menaggio, Italy (1993), Wernigerode, Germany (1995), Cambridge, UK (1997), Renesse, Netherlands (1999), Aussois, France (2001), Aussois, France (2003), Siena, Italy (2005), Istanbul, Turkey (2007), Kerkrade, Netherlands (2009), Nymburk, Czech Republic (2011), and Pont àMousson, France (2013). The twelfth edition of the workshop featured invited talks by Onno Boxma (TU Eindhoven), Michel Goemans (MIT), Rolf Niedermeier (TU Berlin), Willem-Jan Van Hoeve (Carnegie-Mellon University), and Stephan West-

Introduction to planning, scheduling and constraint satisfaction

Planning, scheduling and constraint satisfaction are important areas in Artificial Intelligence (AI). Many real-world problems are known as AI planning and scheduling problems, where resources must be allocated so as to optimize overall performance objectives. Therefore, solving these problems requires an adequate mixture of planning, scheduling and resource allocation to competing goal activit...

A Multi-objective optimization model for project scheduling with time-varying resource requirements and capacities

Proper and realistic scheduling is an important factor of success for every project. In reality, project scheduling often involves several objectives that must be realized simultaneously, and faces numerous uncertainties that may undermine the integrity of the devised schedule. Thus, the manner of dealing with such uncertainties is of particular importance for effective planning. A realistic sc...

مقایسه و تحلیلی بر استفاده از الگوریتم های فراابتکاری برای حل مسائل زمانبندی تولید کارگاهی

One of the most important problems in research and applied fields of production management is a suitable scheduling for different operations. So, there are many approaches for job workshop or job non-workshop scheduling problems. Since job workshop scheduling problems (JSP) belong to NP-Hard class, some metaheuristics methods such as Tabu Search, Simulated Annealing, Genetic Algorithm and Parti...

A multi-objective genetic algorithm (MOGA) for hybrid flow shop scheduling problem with assembly operation

Scheduling for a two-stage production system is one of the most common problems in production management. In this production system, a number of products are produced and each product is assembled from a set of parts. The parts are produced in the first stage that is a fabrication stage and then they are assembled in the second stage that usually is an assembly stage. In this article, the first...

Resource Constrained Project Scheduling with Material Ordering: Two Hybridized Meta-Heuristic Approaches (TECHNICAL NOTE)

Resource constrained project scheduling problem (RCPSP) is mainly investigated with the objective of either minimizing project makespan or maximizing project net present value. However, when material planning plays a key role in a project, the existing models cannot help determining material ordering plans to minimize material costs. In this paper, the RCPSP incorporated with the material order...
